Every pair of shoes is somebody's next step.
We collect new and gently used footwear from people across the Coachella Valley. We clean and sort the shoes, then put the footwear straight into the hands of people in need.
About Us
Judy and Mike Wexler, the founders of Coachella Valley (CV) Has Sole, are putting their passion for helping others into action by providing new and gently used shoes to those in need across the valley. CV Has Sole has shoe collection boxes in local businesses such as Running Wild and the Birkenstock store in Palm Springs, and hosts local shoe drives in large residential communities.
We collect, sort, and clean the shoes, and if needed, replace the insoles and shoe laces. Any shoes that are deemed unfit are taken to a recycling facility to be made into sustainable products. In this way, there is absolutely no waste and nothing is going in the landfill.
Shoes are then donated to the following three organizations:
- Coachella Valley Rescue Mission – to help families get back on their feet, and have appropriate footwear to interview for potential jobs.
- Desert Hot Springs Middle and High School – to provide quality sneakers for the students for everyday wear for school, and give the children an opportunity to participate in sports.
- Well in the Desert – to provide large and wide size footwear for the homeless population.
Host a Shoe Drive
Pick a Date
You pick a short time frame (usually a week) for the shoe drive that best works for your organization.
Promote Event
You promote the date, time and location of the shoe drive several weeks before the start of the event. Encourage your members to clean out their closets and do some spring cleaning! We can provide templates for promoting the event if needed.
Drop Off Collection Boxes
CV Has Sole drops off shoe collection boxes a few days before the start of the shoe drive including large trash bags. You place the collection boxes in key locations making it easy for people to drop-off their shoes.
Pick Up
We pick up donated shoes and collection boxes at the end of the event.
Prep for Distribution
We inspect all donations and, if needed, clean and add insoles and shoe laces.

What We Accept
- All types of adult and kids/youth footwear including sneakers, work boots, sandals, and dress shoes.
- Footwear in any condition.
- Socks - Brand new only.
